Welcome to The World Sprint Championships 2002
– and welcome to Hamar
It is always a pleasure to wish people welcome
to a speed skating event. In Norway, speed skating is met with great
interest and enthusiasm among our audience. But we also have a
demanding audience, requesting splendid results at the ice rink.
Still
we are comfortable welcoming the speed skating family to Hamar. The
city has strong traditions within speed skating. The «Viking-ship»
is one of the best ice-rinks in the world, and we know that we can
trust on the organizing committee, they know how a championship
should be run.
Then
it’s up to the athletes, and the audience. The athletes have to
trust on their training and their preparations. The audience has to
contribute with their enthusiasm, which we all know is a
precondition for good results.
On
behalf of the Norwegian Skating Union I wish the athletes, leaders,
guests, media, and last, but not least, our trusty
audience
heartily welcome to the sprint speed skating championships in Hamar.
